Brewer city officials celebrated their new ‘Gig Town’ status, meaning businesses and residents will have another option for fast internet. During their monthly ‘Coffee with the Mayor’ event, officials gathered in City Hall for a ribbon-cutting and welcome to Fidium Fiber. More than 6,800 homes and businesses will now have access to multi-gig internet speed from Fidium.
Fidium is expanding its all-fiber internet network in Readsboro, bringing multi-gig speed internet to more than 1,100 homes and businesses. Fiber infrastructure construction is scheduled to begin as soon as June 15, with exact start dates varying by location.
Fidium Fiber has begun construction to bring high-speed fiber-optic internet to 20 addresses in Shelburne. The work is expected to finish next year.
As the midpoint of the year approaches, one of the two entities the state of New Hampshire has contracted with to expand high-speed Internet broadband across the state gave a North Country update. Representatives for Fidium Fiber, whose build-out in the region is now complete, said recently that fiber build-out was completed in the towns of Franconia and Lancaster, creating access to more than 3,000 homes and businesses.

In partnership with the Chittenden County Communications Union District, these broadband access upgrades are slated to begin as early as today in Shelburne, and will continue on throughout Essex Town, Westford, Jericho, Shelburne and Williston this summer.
