Woolwich celebrates fiber access, grant partnership with ribbon cutting and ‘Gig Town’ designation

BATH & WOOLWICH, Maine — October 17, 2025 — Fidium, recognized by CNET as the best internet provider in Maine, has expanded its multi-gig speed network to Bath and Woolwich, Maine, bringing new all-fiber internet access to more than 9,700 area homes and businesses. Combined with expansion to Richmond earlier this year and to Topsham in 2023, more than 16,000 locations in Sagadahoc County now have access to Fidium.

The Broadband/Communications Committee and other community members from Woolwich took part in a ribbon cutting ceremony in August, recognizing the completion of the new fiber network. Fidium’s expansion in Woolwich came as the result of a partnership between Lincoln County, the Maine Connectivity Authority and Fidium. During the event, local officials and community members celebrated new fiber access, with Fidium naming Woolwich as an official ‘Gig Town.’

Fidium representatives will be visiting the community over the coming weeks to share more information about service options and availability, participating in local events and stopping by individual homes and businesses with fiber access.

More than 70 percent of Mainers now have access to Fidium’s reliable fiber connectivity, with a network that spans 18,900 miles throughout the state.
