Consolidated Communications rebranding as Fidium. Here is what it means for Houston customers.

Telecommunications and internet services company Consolidated Communications has announced the uniting of its residential, business and wholesale services under the brand Fidium — a move company officials say "is more than a name change" for its greater Houston area customers.

Additionally, Gaurav Juneja, currently the company's chief operating officer will step into the CEO position as current CEO Bob Udell retires at the end of this year.

Consolidated Communications provides internet, television, phone, data and cloud services to homes and businesses in the North Houston, West Houston and Lufkin areas. The brand change became official Sept. 22.

"Fidium is investing heavily to deliver fast, reliable fiber internet to homes, businesses, and institutions that have historically been underserved," according to a news release from Fidium. "Nearly 60% of its footprint is already upgraded to fiber, with 80%-plus targeted by 2027. Local projects are underway that will bring gig-speed connectivity and stronger digital infrastructure to communities across the Greater Houston area."

Across 22 states, the company provides internet access to 4.4 million customers with Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire offering the widest across-the-state coverage, according to company information.

In the Houston area, customers will gain faster, more reliable service, job opportunities with Fidium and more expansion into communities not currently served with upgraded internet access.

The Fidium brand launched in 2021 as a fiber internet and network services company that is now available in more than 700 communities across the country.

Customers will notice rebranded invoices, communications and updated marketing in the coming months.

In early 2026, Juneja will take the CEO role at Fidium. Udell, current president and CEO of Fidium, has overseen the transition from the company serving as a telecommunications business to a leader in fiber internet service.

Juneja has previous roles at Dish Network, Rise Broadband and MetroNet before joining Fidium in February 2023.

“As we enter this next chapter, I’m committed to building on our momentum by delivering an exceptional customer experience, driving innovation that sets us apart, and leading this talented team,” said Juneja. “The Fidium brand unites our work as we are standardizing the network to fiber, digitizing the customer experience and energizing our employees. We're investing in providing access, connectivity and opportunity to hundreds of communities."
