Arcola celebrating new fiber network from Fidium on Dec. 2
City to be named a Gig Town during a ceremony at Municipal Building
ARCOLA, Ill. — Nov. 27, 2023 — Local officials, business leaders and community members will celebrate Arcola’s new distinction as a Gig Town at a ribbon cutting on Dec. 2, following the completion of Consolidated Communication’s new all-fiber internet network. With this fiber network now serving the community, Arcola can now benefit from the myriad economic, educational, employment and entertainment benefits that accompany better internet availability.
Gig Towns are communities with broad access to multi-gigabit fiber internet for residents and businesses and is awarded to towns by Consolidated Communications. Arcola has attained this distinction as the result of Consolidated recently completing construction of an all-fiber network that brings Fidium Fiber service to 1,400 homes and businesses in the town.
