Federal USF Surchge
Federal Universal Service fees pay for federally mandated subsidies to phone service for low-income households, people in areas where phone service expenses are high, and schools, libraries and rural health-care facilities. It is a percentage based fee.
CA Lifeline (ULTS)
This funds discounts on telecommunications to qualified low income households and is percentage based.
CA Teleconnect Fund (CTF)
The CTF program funds discounted rates to qualifying K-12 schools, libraries, community colleges, government-owned hospitals and health clinics, community-based rganizations (CBOs), and healthcare CBOs. It is percentage based.
CA Relay Service & Comm Device Fund
This fee funds provide telecommunications devices to deaf or hearing impaired consumers. Subsequent legislation expanded DDTP to serve California individuals with hearing, vision, speech, cognitive and mobility disabilities.
CA High Cost Fund A (CHCF-A)
This fund provides a source of supplemental revenue small local exchange carriers for the purpose of minimizing any rate disparity of basic telephone services between rural and metropolitan areas. It is a percentage based.
CA Advanced Services Fund (CASF)
The CASF is used to spur deployment of broadband facilities in unserved and underserved areas of California. It is percentage based.
CA Emergency Telephone VOIP (911)
The 911 surcharge is a state charge that supports the cost of providing 911 emergency services. It is a per line charge.
CA State Sales Tax
A state sales tax on goods imposed by the California Board of Equalization. It is percentage based.
CA County/City Sales Tax
A local sales tax on goods imposed by select communities. It is percentage based.
CA City Utility User Fees
A local utility user fee on telecommunications services in select communities. It is percentage based.
