Federal USF Surcharge

Federal Universal Service fees pay for federally mandated subsidies to phone service for low-income households, people in areas where phone service expenses are high, and schools, libraries and rural health-care facilities. It is a percentage based fee.

CA Public Purpose Programs (PPP)

The PPP surcharge funds the California Public Utilities Commission’s six Universal Service Public Purpose Programs (PPPs): 1) Universal LifeLine Telephone Service (ULTS), 2) Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program (DDTP), 3) California High Cost Fund-A (CHCF-A), 4) California High Cost Fund-B (CHCF-B), 5) California Teleconnect Fund (CTF), and 6) California Advanced Services Fund (CASF). The PPP surcharge is assessed to each traditional access line and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service by a single, flat rate surcharge. IL 911 - VoIP

This charge is used to fund the Illinois ITAP program which services the needs of subscribers with hearing, speech, or sight disabilities. It is charged per line.

ConnectME Fund Surcharge

The fund is being established to expand or improve the deployment of broadband availability and wireless service charges in unserved or underserved areas of Maine. It is percentage based.

ConnectME Statewide Broadband
